# Use the documentation assistant

The assistant in the documentation hub answers a question in a few sentences, using only the pages you can open, and links the sections it used. Use it when you know what you want to find out but not which page says it. Anyone reading the hub can use it.

## Prerequisites

You can ask without signing in; the assistant then answers from the public pages. Sign in to the documentation hub to get answers from every page your organisation can open.

## Steps

1. Click **Ask** in the header. The **Ask the documentation** panel opens next to the page.
2. Type your question in **Ask a question** and press Enter. Shift+Enter starts a new line.
   - While it works, the panel shows **Thinking**.
   - The answer appears under your question, with the sections it used listed under **Sources**.
3. Click a source to open the page at that section.
4. To ask more about the same topic, type in **Ask a follow-up**. The assistant keeps the earlier questions and answers in mind, so you do not have to repeat them.
5. Under each answer, at **Was this helpful?**, click thumbs up or thumbs down.
   - After a thumbs down, a box asks **What was wrong or missing?** Type a sentence and click **Send**, or leave it empty.
6. To start on a new topic, click the **+** button (**New conversation**) at the top of the panel.

## Verification

The answer shows under your question, with the sections it used under **Sources**, and after you rate it the panel shows **Thanks for the feedback.** When the pages do not cover the question, the answer starts with "The documentation does not answer this." When they cover only part of it, it starts with "The documentation only partly answers this." and links the closest pages.

## Additional information

- **Answers come only from pages you can open.** The assistant searches the same pages as the search box for your access level and nothing else. It does not answer from general knowledge. When you are not signed in and the public pages do not answer, it says that signing in may show more.
- **Answers can be wrong, so check the sources.** The answer is a short summary; the linked page holds the full detail.
- **Questions are recorded.** For every answer TechWolf records which sections were found and used, whether the pages answered the question, and your rating. This shows which pages are missing or unclear. Leave passwords and personal data out of your questions.
- **Limits.** A question holds up to 2,000 characters and a conversation up to 10 questions. After 10, start a new conversation. If you ask many questions in a short time, the panel says when you can ask again.
- **The conversation stays in your browser tab.** Closing the tab ends it. Nothing about it is kept to continue later.
- **"Your sign-in has run out."** Click **Refresh sign-in** in the message and ask again. You return to the same conversation.
- **"The assistant is not available right now."** Pages and search keep working. Try the assistant again later.
